Now that it’s getting into spring time, I’m starting to bring out my lighter jackets again! While I usually prefer petite sizes, there are sometimes great finds to be had in the regular section too. I’m loving this Blanknyc jacket for it’s reasonable price point, versatile modern style, and petite friendly fit.
This is a lighter weight jacket great for layering in the spring or for cooler summer nights. Other than the center zip, the multiple zippers serve for style rather than function (they do unzip but there's no reason to do so). The pockets are faux but the trade-off is no extra material underneath, letting it keep a closer fit. The embellishments add something extra to a simple outfit, like a black dress and ankle boots, without being overpowering.
The sleeves are a little too long, but not enough that I'd hem them. They are certainly a better fit than most regular sized jackets! Note that there’s slight padding in the shoulders. It can take some getting used to but I’m liking the subtle, edgy look it gives, and the width is a great fit. This brand has definitely given attention to details. In a faux leather material, the price is very reasonable too, coming in at around a hundred dollars for a multi season petite-friendly jacket.
Blanknyc makes several variations of this jacket, such as with tropical embroidery or metallic material, if you want to go even trendier. There’s also a heavier real suede version I’m thinking about getting for colder days. I got my jacket at Nordstrom, but if you want to knock that price down even further, keep an eye on Nordstrom Rack! I’ve seen several Blanknyc styles make their way through the Rack at quite a steal.
